Lately though, I've only been talking to nice girls
It never really works. She drops me off and we shake hands.
I'm so sick of rehearsal, every line, every little motion
Pretending I don't smoke and only drinking two beers.
It often falls back into a conversation about her old boyfriend
and how he's psycho. Or made of concrete.
It always feels more like a lecture, I just sit there and feign laughter
Change the subject to something crass and pray for silence.

And all this time, I never wanted you in my life
But things make things, we all jump and wonder why.
I don't care no more that you're a working girl and stuff.
We can make it out somehow.

I've been a piece of bar trash all my life
